We can think of many reasons, but our relatives and residents regularly list these five in their feedback: Our care, our accommodation, our garden, our food, and our activities & parties. In this article, we are going to explain a bit more about these 5 key reasons why.
Our care
Our Manager, Debbie Spokes, a Registered Nurse herself, has been in position for 15 years and is passionate about making a difference to people’s lives. Debbie has achieved the highest consumer rating for a Nursing Home in the Worthing area on www.carehome.co.uk – 9.9/10 for the care her team provide daily to residents.
Debbie takes great care at Country Lodge to recruit staff who are passionate about the care of the elderly. Together the management and staff team have a huge range of qualifications and experience which we bring together to enhance the experience of Country Lodge. We also aim to have virtually no agency staff and pride ourselves on the dependability of staff which, in a small home such as ours, ensures residents always recognize their carers and build friendships with them.
Our accommodation
Our accommodation is unique. Individually decorated rooms fitted with luxury carpets and curtains, many of our rooms look out over the garden and the National Park beyond and have direct access to the garden via patio doors. All of our rooms are regularly refurbished, and all include a profiling bed, specialist mattress, a touch bedside lamp, a large button telephone and smart television.
Every room is individually decorated in an English Country scheme. Almost all have en suite facilities, and our luxury rooms are fitted with under-floor heating in their wet rooms and direct access from the bedrooms to the garden.
Our garden
Our garden is something we are particularly proud of. Views from the lounge and dining room are across our beautiful garden to the protected South Downs Park beyond. They are truly spectacular and the fields behind regularly host sheep and thoroughbred horses which creates a stunning scene in all seasons. We are currently refurbishing the garden to incorporate more private family entertainment spaces and wheelchair friendly paths for increased accessibility.
Our food
At Country Lodge, we take pride in producing healthy, appetising food that provides good nutrition and hydration essential to the physical and mental well-being of our residents. We work hard to source high quality, locally grown/produced ingredients to cook a seasonal menu that is influenced by the residents of the home. Birthday celebrations, high days and holidays are important fixtures in the calendar of Country Lodge, and we are known for our celebration Lunches and garden parties for relatives, their families and their friends.
Our activities & parties
We have our very own, in-house Activities Coordinator who hosts quizzes, games, exercises events, darts amongst other things several times a week according to residents’ preferences. In addition, we have musicians performing weekly, movie afternoons with interval ice cream as well as bowling, shows, performances, creative talks and seasonal parties for residents to look forward to.
We welcome residents for long and short stays, whether it be for convalescence, post-operative care, holiday stays or as a trial period. We can provide all the care, companionship and medical support you or your loved one might need, whilst enjoying delicious food, and engaging with activities and other residents.
