Wow, what a summer! Come rain or shine, we ensured that our residents had some memorable days at Country Lodge – whether outside enjoying our glorious garden, or inside our beautiful home, we kept everyone entertained and engaged!
In this article, we wanted to share some of the fun things we got up to and also explain a few of the activity plans we have for the rest of the year.
We turned our lounge into a theatre…
It may not be the West End, but it’s a pretty close second and we had many theatre productions take place in our lounge from the fabulous Tickled Pink Productions Company.
Tickled Pink Productions always get our residents singing along to musical classics and laughing out loud, there’s plenty of toe-tapping going on when this lot are around.
Our residents played their cards right…
We’re never short of games at Country Lodge, here are just a few we enjoyed throughout summer:
- Connect4
- Snakes and Ladders
- Card Bingo
- Crosswords
- Quizzes
- Scrabble
- And much more!
We enjoyed themed afternoons…
At the beginning of September, we really spoiled our residents with a full Italian inspired day, which involved:
- Italian music
- A screening of The Italian Job
- A 3-course Italian meal including lasagne, freshly made pizza, salads, garlic bread, tiramisu, Italian ice cream, coffee and of course Italian wine!
In June, we created an ‘at home day at the movies’ where residents were provided with their very own popcorn bags, juice boxes, sweet bags and enjoyed some Disney classics of their choice.
There were a few makeovers…
We’re not just talking about the pampering that our residents receive on a regular basis, we also gave our home a bit of a makeover. We are working on refurbishing some of our resident rooms. Each individually decorated bedroom is completed to a high standard in a country style, complete with a touch lamp, smart TV, Alexa device and large dial telephone, en-suite and WiFi.
We welcomed plenty of visitors to our garden…
Normality feels like bliss for our residents as we could enjoy visitors into our home again, and it wasn’t just the human-kind, we also welcomed some various pets into our Worthing care home for the residents to enjoy. Animal therapy really works wonders!
Alex was music to our ears…
Alex has been visiting Country Lodge for many years now and our residents really look forward to his jazz guitar playing and singing. Especially when it can be enjoyed outside on the terrace in the sunshine!
Our plans for the rest of the year:
Autumn and winter are still full of activities and fun for the residents of our nursing home and we have some great things planned for the rest of 2021. Karaoke afternoons, a Harvest Lunch, a Halloween Party and a Bonfire Night Party with Fireworks to mention just a few! We might not make it to Worthing Fireworks for 2021 but we will certainly enjoy the tradition in our garden.
Dare we say the C-word yet? Christmas is always an extremely joyous time for everyone at Country Lodge, we get dressed up and enjoy plenty of mince pies and mulled wine during our seasonal parties, Carol Service, Christmas Movie afternoons and craft days! There is a great deal of singing, gift-giving, decorations and delicious food! What more could you ask for?
