Read on for facts about Ashington Village and the surrounding area, as well as how Country Lodge could be the perfect residential care home for your loved one.
Facts about Ashington
Ashington is a lovely village located in the heart of West Sussex, between the market town of Horsham and the seaside at Worthing. Thanks to its long history, Ashington has something for everyone, from local shops to bars, restaurants and a number of attractions. Despite the small population of only 2500 people, the village and its local community has won the award ‘Village of the Year’ twice in recent times!
Travelling to Ashington couldn’t be easier due to the central location. It’s only 10 miles from Worthing, meaning it’s only a short drive from our doorstep! Ashington does not have its own train station but the Southern Railway network offers extensive coverage of West Sussex, putting many of the area’s seaside charms and historic sights within one easy journey from popular locations like London and Brighton.
Ashington may be a small village, but that doesn’t mean it lacks things to do, some of which our residents enjoy visiting with our staff and their families on day trips. These attractions include;
- Attending the weekly gathering for the ‘Ashington Village Art Group’ who meet in Ashington Methodist Church Hall. Don’t worry if you’re not an experienced artist, the group welcomes keen artists of all abilities
- Joining in on the regular Horsham Health and Leisure Walks that take enthusiastic trekkers through farmlands, country lanes and the beautiful South Downs
- Browse the village’s various shops including florists, supermarkets and niche independently run shops like ‘Pudding Fairy’ and ‘Wolves Antiques’
